Based on a novel by Dennis Lehane, Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan star in this authentic movie about the mysterious disappearance of a young girl. Patrick Kenzie (Affleck) and Angie Gennaro (Monaghan), both private detectives from the Boston area, are hired to solve the mystery and find the little girl. As they fight to find her alive, they must give up everything, personally and professionally.

Gone Baby Gone is a well thought out movie, as it involves many twists and turns.

Ben Affleck makes his debut as director in this movie. He does a great job with his role as director because he tries to tell the story with authenticity. To do this, he chooses to film it in Doorchest, MA, (in the Boston suburbs) where the original story occurred and close to the Affleck’s hometown. What makes this movie authentic is that most of the actors and background characters are from that area and have the perfect accent.

Overall, Gone Baby Gone succeeds at portraying the story in an authentic way. No wonder Amy Ryan was nominated for the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance as Helene McCready, the mother of the missing young girl. Gone Baby Gone is highly recommended!

I liked the movie but at the same time the story makes me sad because this really does happen to people and their children.
