Synopsis: Speed Racer races for the family racing business. After declining a lucrative offer from Royalton Industry, Speed uncovers plans that will sabotage his chances to win the race. Speed must team up with his rival Rival X in order to win the race that cost his brother’s life.

What Happens in Vegas
Genres: Comedy

MPAA Rating: PG-13 for some sexual and crude content, and language, including a drug reference.
Synopsis: After a night of partying in Las Vegas, a couple find out that they’ve gotten married and that one of them has won the jackpot using the other’s coin. The couple falls in love as they fight over the winnings.

Genres: Drama and Sci-Fi
Running Time: 1 hr 57 min.
MPAA Rating: R for some violent images.
Synopsis: An immigrant girl finds herself in the hospital after a fall and befriends a bedridden man. The captivates her attention as he tells her a story that will take her away from her boredom in the hospital to an imaginary world. In order to keep her interest, he interweaves the story with people she knows.

Surf Wise
Genres: Documentary
Running Time: 1 hr 33 min.
MPAA Rating: R for language and some sexual material.
Synopsis: Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz leaves his successful medical practice to live his dream of being a surfer. He brings his wife and their 9 children with him on this journey as they live in a 24 foot trailer.

We’re going to try and see Speed Racer in IMAX this weekend. It looks entertaining. I know a lot of people have been turned off by the Wachowski brothers after the last two disappointing Matrix sequels, but this just looks like an acid trip (I’m guessing, no first hand experience) mixed with NASCAR… Now if it’s fun and flashy, it should be a good time. If not, well, you’ll read about it on my blog next week sometime.

I don’t think anybody will be seeing me at the cinema this weekend as the two big releases, Speed Racer and What Happens In Vegas, both don’t have the gusto for my bucks! Speed Racer looks like it has some great graphics but the lame storyline and having to watch the amazing graphics for a long time will just make my head spin. Both movies look like they could be either Burnt Popcorns or Kernels.
Iron Man will save the box office again as Speed Racer will have a flat tire and What Happens In Vegas will only stay in Vegas.
