The weekend battle is over and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian takes over the box office from Iron Man’s two-week streak, but doesn’t muster enough power to conquer the overseas numbers. With production costs amounting to $200 million, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian failed to meet their goal of an $80 million debut.

Overall, the box office numbers have been slumping compared to last year’s. Hopefully Indiana Jones can save Hollywood this weekend as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opens in theatres worldwide on Thursday, May 22nd. With an already established worldwide audience, I can see Indiana Jones making more than $100 million ($150 million worldwide) this weekend while picking up some new viewers along the way. We’ll just have to wait and see!

I kinda saw this happening for some reason. I really want to see this movie, but after working this weekend, I knew it wasn’t going to do as well as predicted. Heard it was too confusing…

  3. I hope Disney gets what they want out of Caspian, ’cause I suspect Indy IV will smoke everybody for at least the first 4 days of release. After that it’s anybody’s guess…

  4. the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story better than i would have expected… i had heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not the case
