It’s been 158 days since Bruce Banner’s last incident. He is currently in Brazil, cut off from his normal life and his love interest, Beth Ross. Bruce is trying to track down a cure for the gamma radiation that causes his infected body to become The Hulk when his pulse reaches 200. He must watch his back as General Thunderbolt Ross is hunting him down to exploit his powers. But when General Ross decides to inject Emil Blonsky, his top guy, with a formula, they not only have each other to deal with, but a monstrous creature, Abomination, who is stronger than the Hulk. Bruce finds himself caught in a dilemma…live a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or save the world with his superpowers as The Incredible Hulk.

The Incredible Hulk stars Edward Norton (Fight Club, The Illusionist), Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings, The Strangers), Tim Roth (Funny Games, Even Money), and William Hurt (Into the Wild, Vantage Point).

The opening scene of The Incredible Hulk is a flashback that explains how Bruce Banner became the Hulk, why General Thunderbolt Ross is hunting him down and why Bruce and Beth have been separated. The rest of the story is very well written, with constant chases and action sequences.

Visually, the graphics/CGI are great! The Hulk has received a makeover since the first film (Hulk, 2003). Highly detailed, he looks a lot better and more realistic with his darker texture. We can see each vein and muscle in his body. The same goes for Abomination. The only thing I don’t like about the graphics is at the final battle in the city. Up to this point, we’ve seen real-life buildings, but during the fight scene, everything turns into CGI and makes the whole battle seem fake.

Universal Pictures’ The Incredible Hulk finishes off well with a guest appearance by another superhero we’ve seen recently, setting us up for the two Avengers movies Marvel will be releasing in 2011. The summer of 2011 will feature the release of The First Avenger: Captain America, on May 6, and The Avengers, in July.

If you like action-hero movies, you definitely don’t want to miss The Incredible Hulk! The storyline, graphics and action make this worth the time and money to see! If you were disappointed with Hulk (2003) and aren’t too sure about this one, I recommend seeing it as the film is a lot better than it’s previous!

  1. I used to watch The Hulk on tv religiously when I as a kid; I miss the REAL physical human being version of Hulk instead of all the CGI, it loses emotional connection for me. I love Ed Norton and look forward to that; he’s an amazing actor.

  2. Great review. I thought this was very well done too.

    Thanks for the comment.
