Crawford - Bush Sign

Rating: Butter Popcorn

Can one man change the face of a community in Small-Town America? In 1999, Crawford, Texas, a small town with a population just over 700, is about to find out as it welcomes its newest resident, Governor George W. Bush. As Bush’s eyes are glued to the White House and his campaign for presidency, Crawford instantly booms to over 20,000 people overnight, with news vans and reporters flocking to the Governor’s ranch. But when the Iraq war becomes a hot topic about his presidency, Cindy Sheehan and her followers rally into town to protest the war, causing tension amongst the locals and across the nation.

Making his directorial debut, David Modigliani tells the story of how Crawford, Texas has changed since it welcomed its newest inhabitant by looking through the eyes of those affected, whether young or old. The final product gives us an interesting look from all angles of the story, from Bush supporters to Bush protesters, that makes this documentary film worth seeing.

Crawford, produced by Live Action Projects and 501 Post, was released at the beginning of October on Hulu.com, an online video service that provides users with hit TV shows, movies and clips which they can watch anywhere in the U.S. at anytime, all for free.
