LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ — Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of NEW MOON, the second installment of its filmed franchise TWILIGHT, the action-packed, modern day vampire love story. The movie will be based on the second novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series titled, “New Moon.” The first movie in the TWILIGHT franchise, the self-titled TWILIGHT, arrived in theaters this weekend to sold-out showings.
Stephenie Meyer stated, “I don’t think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment. I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on NEW MOON.”
Starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, TWILIGHT tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward Cullen, a pale, mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together … even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires. Their unorthodox romance puts her in physical danger when Edward’s nemesis comes to town and sets his sights on Bella.

NEW MOON will be releasing in 2010. There is not a set date yet as they are still working on signing the cast. Rob and Kristen have been resigned but the rest of the crew are still up in the air. We’ll post any new information on the site as soon as it comes in.

I love Twilight im a major fan the movie was amazing but, Ok so i heard today that Summit Entertainment doesnt want to keep Taylor Lautner on in New Moon as Jacob Black, well my Opinion of that is If they have someone else play Jacob it would totally screw up New Moon. I hate when movie company’s do that, they release a great movie and you fall in love with all the cast members then they make the second movie and they change the cast on you. Taylor is the perfect Jacob and im not the only one who feels that way i have tons of friends who feel the same way as i do. Infact i wish i knew the email address for Summit so i could let them know how i and everyone else feels. Thanks

I think that Taylor Lautner should be kept as Jacob. He is perfect for the part. Who cares about him having to be tall. Anyways can’t they do something to just make hims look taller, like in Lord of The Rings they make the hobbits look so much shorter, but they aren’t super short in real life. Whatever you do just PLEASE don’t fire Taylor! HE is a great actor and he didn’t get an oppurtunity to show his great work in twilight with such a small role. If he is in New Moon I know he won’t let us down!
Also I think that Love Story by Taylor Swift and The Way I Loved You by Taylor Swift describe New Moon and Eclipse PERFECTLY. It would be amazing if you put them in the movies

first i think Cathrine should stay the director for new moon second i think they should keep Taylor as Jacob, they should not change the cast i felled in love with the whole cast in twilight i do not want to see a change, I loved how Cathrine direct twilight i don’t want to see a new director rune new moon. ok so I have been hearing that there is a possibility of not being in the next movie (New Moon). Well, I think that if he were taken out of these movies than many people would be let down as well as myself. The intensity that was already displayed between the two of them in the first movie can not be kept with someone new. So please keep Taylor.

I think that for new moon Steven Strait should play Jacob Black because in “new moon” Jacob is a maturing werewolf and in twilight he was just some ordinary kid….
first off Taylor Lautner was BARLEY in twilight so whats makes the difference if someone else plays jacob?
Rumor says Stephenie Meyer’s first choice for Jacob was Steven Strait but he didn’t fit the description of Jacob in twilight BUT he does fit Jacob for new moon and the rest of the series. Steven and Taylor even sorta look a like just Steven looks a little older.
i think everything will be fine if they do change Jacob people do it all the time and it works out just fine in the end
some might be upset but i think they’ll like him in the end…maybe =)

If you have any influence for the soundtrack for New Moon, pass on the suggestion of “My Sacrifice” by Creed. It speaks volumes about Edward’s love for Bella and his sacrfice for her safety. It would make a great addition to the movie. Thanks!

I have no real say in who stars in New Moon nor do I tell the studio who should be on the soundtrack, but who knows, maybe the film’s producers are reading your comments and suggestions on this site. Maybe they’ll make your wishes come true? Who knows? We’ll just have to wait until November to see!
