Over this past weekend, The Dark Knight broke several box office records. Early Friday morning, the film broke the midnight screenings record by bringing in $18.5M. This figure doesn't include the 3am and 6am showings. The Dark Knight also shattered the single-day opening record by generating a whooping $67M and exploded the opening weekend record, which was last set by Spider-Man 3, by bringing in $155M over the past 3 days. Moviegoers showed us through the box office numbers this past weekend that they would rather go to hell in Hellboy II: The Golden Army than Meet Dave as Hellboy II toped the charts with $35.9M while Eddie Murphy's Meet Dave came in 7th place with $5.3M, not good enough for our Top 5 weekend box office hits.
